I just asked this question on the TomTom community forum and was told that RECENT TomToms - my Go50 included will not mount as a USB device - this is by design apparently.
3rd party POIs can only be introduced via MyDrive Home (online) and ONLY the .ov2 files are selectable for upload.
I am told that user .bmps are "not possible"
I'm on Win10 Pro, but I've also tried Linux Ubuntu - same result . . . .
The TomTom asks that you install or start TomTom Mydrive Home . . .
Is there any way round this? - or am I just doing something wrong?

Other than using tomtom? Navman did the same mistake 10 years ago. They disabled POI loading for some GPS models. Navman users (myself included) simply returned their purchases and switched to Garmin.

A good salesman should warn you before you take it home and find it by yourself. There is no work around that silly limitation. Can you take it back (not fit for purpose to install extras like on any other brand/model).
