I cannot believe how hard it is to speak to someone in Medicare - I totally feel for the elderly if they have to try and do this. Each time you call whether its 8am in the morning it always says "Due to a high number of calls etc etc then hangs up. Disgusting to say the least! Lift your game.
As always utter inefficiency. Renewal returned by me Express Post; arrived 25th August (in Canberra Post office Box) within one day as promised by Australia Post. Approved by Centrelink 15th September (one day after expiry date of card); posted 20th September... until now new card NOT arrived. Lucky I recorded the conversation receipt no. The system never works and each blames the other. Don't worry about phone calls during the day; you never get on, or 30-40 minutes' wait if you ring from 8 am if lucky.
It is hopeless and they're unaccountable; and they couldn't care!
